Join the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps in 4 steps:

  • Reach out to us! We will be happy to tell you more about our organization and the unit, answer any question you might have, and plan your orientation visit

  • Attend an Orientation session - we usually hold them on the 2nd weekend of the month September through May. Prospective cadets can also spend a day with our unit. In summer we host info meetings monthly via Zoom.

Requirements to join

Must be a US citizen (no waivers available)
To join, you must be at least 10, but not yet 18 years old.
Complete a physical examination: A medical examination similar to a school sports physical is required for all cadet applicants to the Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC) or Navy League Cadet Corps (NLCC).

No one will be denied admission to the NSCC/NLCC due to a medical disability. Where a medical condition precludes full, unlimited participation, a Request for Accommodation may be presented by the parent or guardian for review so the cadet may participate in NSCC activities to the maximum extent possible.

Must be satisfactorily enrolled in a public or private school or a certified home school program.
Be of good moral character and free of any felony convictions. Has to commit to 75% attendance and plan to attend at least two training courses (Recruit Training or Leaguer Orientation plus an advanced training) in the first year.
