January 2024 Drill

Updated: Jun 27

January Drill took place on 13-14 of January 2024 at the Great Lakes Naval Base.

BRAVO-ZULU ALL for braving the weather and making the trip last weekend. Our leadership is grateful for your efforts in preparing for the annual inspection. The cadets' military bearing and knowledge impressed our regional director, LT Jason Baltutis. We are still waiting for the inspection score, but we will share it once we have it.

The last drill also included a lot of reflections on our overall performance as a division and individual cadets' goals. We had a guest speaker—Active Duty Corpsman Experience - guest speaker HMC Paolo Trinidad.

Many cadets have been assigned new billets this month, and we look forward to seeing them in their new roles.

We also welcomed a new group of Recruits who did a fantastic job learning their Close Order Drill Commands for the inspection! Great Job Recruits!

Thank you to all our volunteers for making this challenging drill happen!

NEXT MONTH, we will be jumping back into the new curriculum, which is communication. We are looking to cover MORSE CODE, SEMAPHORE, HAM RADIO, and SOUND POWERED TELEPHONE, and we are looking for experts. If you know of someone (or you are that someone) who would like to share your knowledge with cadets on these topics, please reach out to the CO as your earliest convenience (lburkut@seacadets.org

The SEAPERCH underwater robotics team is back in session. If you would like to join, please contact Jim Head directly as soon as possible, as he is in charge of this activity.
